How do I get more action slots?
I am at level 5 as a Mage and I have a pet cougar. So my action slots are pretty full with casting spells and also my cougar spells. So how can I add more empty slots so I can add spells as I go along in the game?

That's one thing that makes Guild Wars different...you can only take eight skills/spells/etc with you at a time. So you have to make an effective build/skillset with those eight available slots.

You need to learn the game mechanics, get a guild or whatever. Then you'll realise there's no such thing as a Mage in guild wars, they're called skills and how you shouldn't take a pet as an Elementalist.

you can only have 8
Reccomendations: Damage spells, since your an elementalist Your Pet Healing/Res skill (most likely comfort animal) Healing for you (troll ungent and/or aura of restoration) Hope this helps. Just think beforehand which skills are going to be most useful. |

I guess maybe a nice response shouldn't have been to hard really. Yes GW is different and it can be a challenge to not be able to make more hot bars lol. Spec for one type of damage like fire as an example. You don't want to spread yourself to thin with the attribute points or you will be ineffective. From reading your questions, you appear to enjoy playing as a Ranger. My advice would be to leave your Elementalist as is and create a second character, a ranger. Play with the ranger some and get to understand the profession.
Play with the elementalist as well, but use the ele as a spellcaster and not a beastmaster. In the low levels of the game it really doesn't matter. Your Ele and his pet will do just fine with the ranger build, but as you progress into the harder sections, you'll quickly be overwhelmed without a stronger Elementalist based build. |

You have 8 skills slots, no less, no more. It is part of game mechanic. When your char evolve and progress through quests and game, you will get powerfull skills. Having limited number of skills allow game to offer more powerfull skills, you will have to choose among. You will get later 'elite skill', a super skill you can have one max in your skill bar. Actually even your level is limited (but you still get XP). But you will really enjoy this game when you are at level 20. As told above, at low level, pet are... tamagotchis but fun to have. Later you will probably choose to take more powerfull skills, and even change your secondary profession. |
